Looks for Less: February Edition
I'm excited to kick off the new "Looks for Less" series with some awesome finds this month! I am all about trying out trendy pieces if I can find them at reasonable prices, so this column is very near and dear to my heart.
I'm a firm believer in spending well on investment pieces that have major longevity to them - like handbags, certain shoes or great work basics. On the flip side, as much as I love incorporating new trends into my wardrobe, I approach them with caution. I'm always on the hunt for similar versions of items you see headed down the runways or on London streets that don't come with the designer price tag. I want to feel confident about wearing a new trend, not filled with guilt/buyers remorse because I overspent. With that in mind, here are my current favorite looks for WAY less. Hope you enjoy them!
1. Chanel S/S '18 Booties.
This cap-toed, mesh and quilted-heeled pair of perfection (seriously, I love them so very much) reportedly sold out once they hit stores faster than you can say Chanel. And a pair set buyers back over $1000 in the mad dash for them. But you'll see the strong look-alike pair I've found (from one of my fave French-girl-cool brands Avec Les Filles) for 1/10th of the price. Score!
2. Saint Laurent Heart-Shaped Sunglasses
I know... you're thinking, heart-shaped sunglasses?? But any trend that's good enough for Giovanna Battaglia should be good enough for you! She looks fabulous and fun in them and I can't get enough! But, who wants to drop $500 on such a novelty item? Not me. I found not one but two look-alike options at great price points.
3. Ultra-Feminine Pleated Mini Skirts
I love midi skirts, and I love pleated versions. They're so versatile based on what your day-to-day life looks like (I love to style one for work with a t-shirt and leather jacket or evening with a cropped knit tank top) and they look just as good with boots in the winter as they do with strappy heels in the summer. Designers have sent so many beautiful versions down the runways lately and these are two of my recent faves in fun colors/patterns:
4. Structured Work Tote
I have adored Christian Louboutin's bags, especially the satchels and totes, since they started making them a few years ago. This black leather beauty is a perfect work bag, but the $2100 price tag might be hard to swallow even if you'd get 10 years out of this bag. So I found two super similar versions that I love almost just as much!
5. The Infamous Gucci GG Belt in Classic Black
There are few items I love more than a good belt (no, it's neither the first nor the last time you'll hear me say that) and my blush/tan Gucci belt was quite possibly my favorite purchase of 2017. I am a belt freak, I belt everything, so this item was totally 100% worth the investment for me. But if you like the look but don't want to make the investment, here are two other options with strong gold hardware that will add interest to any look!
6. White Booties
Guess what? White booties aren't going ANYWHERE (at least not anytime soon)! We're in the center of NYFW's A/W '18 shows and designers like Tibi are sending white booties down the runway with every imaginable look. I love them, in all shapes and heel heights. I do think Rag & Bone's off-white version is a very wearable way to ease into the trend if you still aren't convinced, but if you aren't, their price tag is still hefty. Enter the under-$100 version I found for you that I love just as much!
7. White Sneakers
The Common Projects sneakers are white sneaker game perfection if you ask me, but I recently discovered a sneaker brand I am so in love with, Koio. I don't know how I got by without them before I owned my Koio's - they're comfy and have major style for such a simple shoe. I know you'll love them too if the Common Projects price point isn't for you (but you still want a very well made and comfortable sneak for half the price)!
